This leads to an adverse effect on the body and is associated with vast symptoms. Some of them include headache, nausea, dizziness, fatigue and even vomiting in severe cases.

A major misconception prevails that physical fitness can prevent AMS. However, in most cases, age and stamina don’t determine anything. Don’t Push Yourself
Oftentimes, we tend to reach our goal at the fastest speed possible. One of the common problems we face in high altitudes is shortness of breath. And this is when one should take some rest and relax. It’s never a good idea to push yourselves in big hikes or high-intensity activities. It takes time for our body to get accustomed to the thin mountain air and it’s important to feel at ease.
Eat Sufficient Food In The Right Way
Eating heavy foods can make you feel uncomfortable and you might get nauseous due to various reasons. It’s very important to eat carbs as they burn off to give you immense energy. Eat light and highly nutritious food. Adding iron to your diet is very important, especially for females. It helps to increase the number of red blood cells and thus access to oxygen within the body.
Staying hydrated is not an option, it’s 100% compulsory. Dehydration is the biggest evil in higher altitudes, as it can lead to AMS symptoms like dizziness, headache, and nausea. Also, the higher you go, the drier the air becomes which can add to further dehydration. So, it’s always a good idea to double your water intake. Avoid alcohol at any cost because alcohol affects your health even more at high elevations. It’s good to carry some soda, in case, you feel nauseous and need to settle your stomach.
