The Parvati Valley is one of the most exquisite places on earth. Nestled in the Himalayas of Himachal Pradesh, a valley is a place that welcomes all. The Kheerganga trek is one amazing journey you do not want to miss. Traverse across the beautiful terrains of the Himalayas, while learning about the different cultures of the locals. You will have the once in a lifetime opportunity to trek through villages and get to see how the local villager live. All this, and the opportunity to make many memories at the snow-capped mountain peaks.
Begin your trek from Kasol, which is a famous hill station in the Pin Parvati Valley. You will then proceed towards Barshaini where your once in a lifetime experience begins. The 12 km trail takes you through some of the most mesmerizing views of the entire region. You will walk past several waterfalls and we bet your cameras will be out the entire time! Don’t worry about getting tired, because all of your tiredness will be vanished the second you see the magical hot springs in Kheerganga.
What a better way to warm yourself up than a hot spring in the middle of the cold mountains? You will spend the night camping in tents here and the next day, on your way back you get to relive every moment one last time. There are several historical and religious beliefs along with the lake. Locals believe that the lake is associated with the Sage Bhrig who performed powerful medidation rituals along the banks hundreds of years ago. The locals also believe that several gods of the Kullu valley dipped into the holy waters of the lake, making it even more sacred for devotees. Additionally, Brigu lake is 6km away from Gulaba which is a pictorial village close to Manali.
Kheerganga is a beautiful meadow located at an altitude of 2,960m. It is believed that Lord Shiva meditated here for 3,000 years.

How To Reach:
By Air: Kullu Manali is the closest airport to Kasol. There are daily flights to Kullu Manali from Delhi. From the airport you can easily book a taxi to Kason which is only 31 km away and will take you approximately an hour to reach.
By Train: There is no railway station in Kasol. The nearest station to Kasol is Joginder Nagar railway station, which is nearly 145 km away from Kasol. From here, you can catch a bus or a taxi towards Manikaran which will take you about 5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train to Chandigarh, from where you can drive down to Kasol, which is 295 km away or 8-9 hours away.
By Road: The NH-3 leads towards Manali. Most people drive down comfortably from Delhi to Manali. You can easily rent cars from Delhi or hire taxis as well. There are many volvo buses as well that you can opt for instead. Alternatively, you can also drive down from Chandigarh to Kasol which is about 7 hours.

Day 1: Kasol – Barshaini – Rudra Nag – Kheerganga
Your trek begins at 10 AM from Kasol, a small village situated on the banks of the Parvati River. You will be picked up and will proceed by road to Barshaini, where the rivers Tosh and Parvati meet. This is where you will begin your trek from.
You trail is filled with a lot of adventure. You will cross over many wooden bridges and rocky sections. The views throughout your trek will surely keep you enthralled. You’ll have many opportunities to click photographs by waterfalls and you will wish to never go back home! You will take a small break at Rudra Nag which is a serpent shaped waterfall. It is one of the biggest tourist attractions in the Valley.
The 13 km hike goes through the villages of Kalga and Pulga. This will be an amazing opportunity for you to learn how the local’s live life way up in the mountains. You will also have a chance to interact with many of the local people.
After you reach the meadows at Kheerganga, you can take a much refreshing dip in the hot springs to wash off your fatigue. The therapeutic waters of the hot sprins will surely be an experience to remember.
Day 2: Kheerganga – Rudra Nag – Barshaini – Kasol
Wake up in tents amidst the beautiful Himalayan peaks and prepare for your journey back to Kasol. You will follow the same route on your way back. This will probably be your last opportunity to take those photographs that you missed out on taking on your way up.
THINGS TO CARRY
Kheerganga gets cold even during the summer, so ensure you carry some warm clothing with you. Be sure to carry a poncho or a raincoat during the monsoon season. Definitely pack some thermal inners, socks, cream for your body, face and lips and loads of sun protection. A torch will come in handy as well. Try to opt for track pants rather than jeans as these will be a lot more flexible and comfortable while you trek up and down.
